Billy Graham Bourbon Street

The term “Billy Graham Bourbon Street” became popular with the Evangelist Billy Graham leading March down Bourbon Street. Billy Graham Bourbon Street began the march what he has said would be his last North American crusade, at Flushing Meadows Park in New York City on June 24, 2005.

On the weekend of March 11–12, 2006 Billy Graham held the "Festival of Hope", together with his son, Franklin Graham. The festival was held in New Orleans, which was recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Over 1,360 people were converted during the weekend event, supported by 215 churches across the New Orleans metro area.

William Franklin Graham, Junior, commonly known as Billy Graham, has been a spiritual adviser to many of U.S. presidents. Billy Graham, rated number 7 on Gallup's list of admired people for the 20th century, is one of the most prominent members of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Born November 7, 1918, the 87-year-old evangelist, Billy Graham shocked the 16,300 in attendance at the Celebration of Hope crusade in New Orleans Arena on Sunday Night. Graham urged on the multitude of evangelical Christians and new converts to join him on the one mile walk from the arena to New Orleans’ famous Bourbon Street.

“Tonight, in what very well might be my last evangelistic service, I aim to finish that business and lead as many of you that would follow me to the multitude of lost souls that fill Bourbon Street tonight. That is my mountain! That is where we shall see the harvest!” said Billy Graham Bourbon Street and people erupted in cheers.

The march including the people singing in unison the Christian hymn, Amazing Grace, crossed Canal Street and headed northward towards Bourbon Street. Soon the march was joined by bourbon street local people who had survived Hurricane Katrina in the lower 9th Ward. Soon the Bourbon Street got packed with Christians and became resonant with the Christian prayers and Hymns. This was something that people had never seen at Bourbon Street ever before, and perhaps will never see it again.
